Claire Iris Schencke

mixed media painter and printmaker

About the process:

The paintings in the Glacier Art Project and At Waters’ Edge series are mostly color oil monotypes on Rives BFK paper. I use watercolor sketches made on location and photos. Making monotypes is a sensual experience: the slick glass, the creamy inks, the hand of the fine paper, the smooth brayers, the gentle movement of the heavy etching press.
